New publication ‘The Sound-Considered City’ is launched by ‘Recomposing the City’ group.
The Recomposing The City group (RTC), including QUB Architecture’s Dr Sarah Lappin and Dr Rachel O’Grady, has been busy in recent weeks. They launched their new publication, The Sound-Considered City in Belfast City Hall on 19 February with RTC co-director Dr Gascia Ouzounian (Oxford). The launch event was featured on NVTV on 26 February, and Sarah and Rachel also presented The Sound-Considered City at the Northern Ireland Assembly on Wednesday 28 February. Sarah then braved the bad weather to introduce the new publication at the University of Oxford’s Acoustic Study Day on 2 March hosted by Dr Ouzounian at the Faculty of Music. RTC’s Conor McCafferty, Dr Matilde Meireles and Christabel Stirling also presented their ground-breaking research at the event. Other guests at the Study Day included theorist Professor Richard Sennett, US sound artist Keith Obadike and Polish sound artist Katarzyna Krakowiak.
